Again - there's just not much you can do if someone's operating in bad faith.
Because that's the only explanation that makes sense to me other than Veach knowing all this back in March and simply calling Jones bluff. Which isn't impossible but I'd still guess that we'd have heard SOMETHING regarding a potential Jones trade in that case.

Unless Jones and his agents are operating in some bad faith or changed their asks, the two scenarios that are possible are:
1) Veach and co. knew what Jones wanted and decided they'd rather have whatever they can get from Jones for this year and trade returns after this year (unlikely, IMO, considering the way they approached restructures and cap space. They pretty clearly were counting on creating some on the Jones extension).
2) Veach and co. just completely ****ed up
Most likely scenario is that Jones and his agents have changed their story and are acting in some bad faith.
