I know "they won the SB etc" and it's worked out, but hindsight being what it is, if you can't get Jones signed and have to move on, I'd imagine they'd like to have the Tyreek thing to do over again.

No one said "We let Tyreek go so we could give Jones an extension." They may have alluded to big contracts LIKE Jones as a factor, but it's more about overall cap management. Even if we let Jones walk tomorrow, there's a whole line of dudes who are going to need contracts in the next year or two.
It's ludicrous to imply they wouldn't trade Tyreek now - ESPECIALLY in hindsight. It worked out wonderfully for the team and will continue to pay dividends in the next few years as all of the guys we got for him are on rookie contracts.
