And yet we hear all the time the #1 excuse for players who have a down year in a new system is, "Well, it's the first year... they need more time to gain mastery." They can certainly run the plays and do what they're asked to do, but they don't have it down in their bones yet. Still a lot of thinking that takes place early on.
Vance doesn't have to run the plays on the field, but might there possibly be a couple miscommunications between him and the defense because it's not quite second nature to him yet? Absolutely.
It's a just a weird ****ing choice for bounty boy to make. There weren't any number of rando position coaches familiar with that Donko defense who couldn't have stepped in and done the job? You just had to have Coach Vagina, eh?
