'Our seniors cannot afford to wait': Jackson County executive calls for implementation of Senate Bill 190 at local level.
JACKSON COUNTY, Mo. —
Jackson County Executive Frank White Jr. said Thursday that the county should immediately implement Senate Bill 190, a bill signed by Missouri Gov. Mike Parson that would help freeze property tax rates for seniors.
White said he is planning to issue an emergency contract with a third-party consultant that will bring the "necessary expertise and resources to expedite the review and effective implementation of the bill."
"We are on the clock. Our seniors cannot afford to wait," White said in a statement. "Unless a written objection is received from a member of the County Legislature by the end of next week, I plan to proceed with identifying a qualified contractor immediately. If any objections arise, we will follow the formal procurement procedures outlined in Chapter 10 of our Code of Ordinances."
