But when the NFL has to pass rule exceptions like the one so teams carry 8 offensive linemen and 3 QBs, something is wrong with your rule.
It costs nothing extra for the team. The player has practiced and been with the team.
Also, the use of practice squad players for game day rosters changed what players are eligible on the field.
It's not really a big deal, it just seems that it is an antiquated NFL rule.
