Whatever. My point has been simply that Payton is a significantly better HC/OC than Hackett. Imo, Sean's better than McCarthy as well, a few stats without context notwithstanding. But go ahead and believe whatever you want about McCarthy and Sean if it makes you feel better.

They both coached in the same conference at the same time, both had HoF QBs over a decade and both were only able to deliver their Elite QBs to the Super Bowl one time, and have a very comparable win percentage to each other along with similar division success.
Don't get me wrong, you can do a LOT worse than McCarthy, but don't act like the stats don't have context. They had eerily similar tenures with their first teams with pretty similar situations.
It's not like Payton made Brees. Brees was pretty damn good in Marty's offense in San Diego, that says enough.
Will Denver be better than what they were? Probably, but this idea from a lot of people that he's going to completely turn a 180 on Russ or that hes a QB whisperer is somewhat dishonest at best, willfully disillusioned at worst. He was handed a great QB that was undervalued by Marty and built his offense around the pass rather than the run when the game was beginning to shift heavy that way.
Will Russ be as bad? Probably not. Will that change the outcome of things? Probably not.
Denver will still be in the bottom half of the AFC West, probably with a losing record, and two more losses to the Chiefs (more because of how good Andy is as a coach than anything else) barring significant injuries.
