Well, that doesn't really pertain to total sodium because there's many more sources than just sodium chloride (table salt).
Sure, you don't want to intake a lot of salt but the vast majority of people consume sodium in the form of soda pop and stuff that contains other sodium compounds like MSG.
That being said, it's pretty important to supplement at least SOME iodized table salt. Not Himalayan salt, sea salt, or anything else but actual iodized salt. I read an article recently about the increase in iodine deficiencies in America.
