I've pretty much lived an entire life eating junk processed food. My current diet is about a 60-40 ratio of junk food to home cooking (even my home cooking is kinda junky).
I currently weigh about 15lbs more than i did in HS (at age 38) and fall in the Normal/Healthy weight range for my height.
BUT, i also stay pretty active on the weekends with recreational sports and often workout 3-4 days a week during the spring and summer.

Calories in/calories out is the simplest way to maintain your weight for the average person.
A big issue with highly processed food is that it is generally very high cal so people struggle to not take in excess calories. You can sit down with a bag of chips and a soda and take in 500 calories in 15 minutes and still be hungry. It's terrible.
