Holy shit, I was just trolling when I compared Payton to Gruden, but the situation is EXACTLY THE SAME.

--Stagnating franchise.

--Owner feeling desperate and goes after a coach who currently works in the media.

--Coach makes franchise pay out the ass otherwise he's just gonna stay where he is.

--The unspoken #1 job of the new coach is to "fix" the QB.

--Coach makes the demand, "I call the shots on personnel."

He's totally going to absolutely gut the team down to the studs in a season, too, after he has a disappointing first year and blames it on the old personnel he inherited.

It's like there was a cloud of stupid that moved to the southeast from Oakland to Vegas, and now it's picking back up on a slight northward trajectory to the Rocky Mountains
