Moral of the story, they were going to make a crappy version, probably without a scene with the gravity of, "You didn't kill Anakin...I did." and corresponding fight scene. Probably just Diego Luna doing inexpicable dumb shit.

It seems a simple path for Disney to me.
Whatever Gilroy wants to do, you green light. Keep your hands off. Make the fans and critics happy. Pocket the profits.
