Lock is not the answer at QB. Never improved after college despite showing flashes here and there but his bad plays happen way to often and sucks throwing deep.
Harris was a good player and decent starter. Totally replaceable though.
None of those players were going to see another contract. Yes pretty much throw away into the deal players.

I don't think I could find a single person who would agree that "throwaway" is synonymous with "good," but all righty.
You could say that any player who isn't elite is replaceable. I guarantee you weren't calling Fant a throwaway before the deal. If you were, you were the only Denver fan to do so. There were even homers saying that he was in Kelce's ballpark.
I've seen some Denver fans admit that you have questions on the DL, so I'm sure you could still use a player like Harris. And frankly, even Lock is a pretty big loss, because your backup is now a guy with 1 career start and 5 turnovers. Ouch.
The bottom line is that you gave up a bunch of premium picks, two solid starters, and your backup QB to acquire a past-his-prime QB who is going to expect 50 mil/year. Not exactly the ideal way to close the gap with a team that was already far better than you and has a lot of draft capital. Not to mention the rest of the division.
