Look, it's May, and we just drafted these guys. Now is the time to dream about ceilings, not bitch about floors.
We took a bunch of highly motivated, hard working kids. Those are the type of kids that have a good shot at reaching their max potential.
If several of them do, this is a transformational draft.

I don't actually think thats an unreasonable scouting report. I just don't think it's as damning or pessimistic as some do.
I think they're acknowledging that he's a good player. I think they're also giving a pretty good statement of his strengths and weaknesses. I think when they talk about 'first round player' they speak in the same terms Veach did when he said 'we have 16-18 first round guys...' in a draft that will necessarily see 32 of them. If you think there are 16-18 'first round players' then it stands to reason that you would see someone who's a 'good consolation at 20+' as being a 'fringe first, early 2nd' graded player.
And I think the lack of length is a legit concern.
Where I do think they should've emphasized a little more is how well this kid stops/starts and reads routes. It's remarkable. I've not seen many guys like it. His ability to gear down with the WR and change direction while staying in his pocket is just awesome.
But what that does is probably make him an exceptional slot corner while not doing a hell of a lot to overcome his real weakness outside - the length. And the length will always be a bit of an issue as to his ultimate ceiling.
As I've said - I don't have any problem with this pick at all. I think he's going to be a successful player here for some time. But I think saying "hey, he MIGHT not be a true island/shutdown guy" is more than fair, especially if you acknowledge, as the scouting report did, how steady and how smart a player he is.
