I spent too much time watching more George Pickens last night.
I've spent more time watching him than any other player. I must've watched his "every target" videos at least twice now for both 2019 and 2020.
My main concern with him:
I thought in his Freshman year campaign he lost too many 50/50 balls. When the catches became contested, he didn't win nearly as often as you'd like.
In 2020, you could see improvements on that. He was winning more of those 50/50 balls than in his freshman year. He looks like he added some weight too, so that my have been part of it.
He had a couple minor mental drops. Not a big deal.
There were a pair of INT's that could've been avoided if Pickens positioned himself/played the ball better.
Watching him vs LSU's Stingley Jr. was real fun, but as you mentioned, Pickens struggled a bit when Stingley got physical. But Pickens won his share too, which was nice to see.
Ultimately i feel that with Pickens, even when he loses on those 50/50 balls, you can see the raw talent and athleticism is there. It just oozes off the screen to where some of those losses really could've been wins thanks to his pure size and catch radius. And he moves so damn well....
