Tua in all likelihood is not a long term answer for the Dolphins but he may be a good value at QB over the next 2-3 years.
The standard for a QB to win a single SB isn't as high if that QB is on a rookie contract/relatively lowly paid and the team isn't having to carry too many bad contracts.
Dolphins appear to be positioning themselves for a SB run a year from now with or without Tua.
I would not be surprised at all if Tua has a fairly good season this year statistically speaking and he does a better job running the ball but I wouldn't invest big money in him on a 2nd contract given the injury risk and what I perceive as his level of talent.

In the last 20 years there have been 2 SB winners who were quarterbacked by dudes who aren't going to the HoF. The Ravens w/ Flacco and Eagles with Foles.
And Flacco was at least very good at the time. He also happened to get white hot in that playoff stretch and Tua simply doesn't have that club in his bag.
Trying to win a SB w/ a 'meh' quarterback is exactly why many of these teams have failed at it. It's why the 49ers lost for sure. Garropollo had the game in his hands and just overthrew a wide open Emanuel Sanders. That's the throw a championship caliber QB needs to make and Grapes just couldn't.
And with the stack of QB firepower in the AFC (not to mention the 1-bye format), an Eagles situation where a team w/ a mediocre QB gets a first round bye then beats a decaying Matt Ryan and completely overmatched Case Keenum to get to the SB just isn't happening.
Nah - the Dolphins are drawing dead.
