You get much past the bottom end jobs, everybody is at least paying attention. Nobody is blindly loyal in 2021.
Hell I work for myself and periodically I'll run the math on pulling the chute on my operation and working for not Buehler445.

Yeah, when I started with the company it was US owned and had a real family atmosphere. It was bought by Fiat and has slowly went downhill since. The only reason I've stayed is I have a good job and my direct bosses (yes, I have more than one) pretty much leave me alone to run my plant as long as it performs well. Italians are ****ing weird. Loyalty is really important to them and I've seen too many colleagues end up getting let go after word got out they were looking at other opportunities.
That all being said, I've made up my mind. I'm going to call the company in Pella this afternoon and tell them I will accept the offer with a couple of changes. I want one Friday each month off (I will take conference calls and Teams meetings from my truck) and I'm going to ask for an extra week of PTO per year. If they agree to these changes to their offer, I will be moving to Iowa soon.
