The dream is dead. Maybe.
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson tried to put all the trade rumors to rest Friday during an appearance with Chris Russo on Mad Dog Sports Radio. Per Pro Football Talk:
“I’ve been fortunate to be able to play 10 amazing years in Seattle,” Wilson said. “My hope and goal is to be back there and keep winning there. That’s the vision, that’s the goal. That’s always been it, never been anything different.”
Wilson trade rumors gained momentum last year as the Seahawks struggled to a 7-10 finish, putting them in last place in the NFC West.
The normally durable 33-year-old Wilson missed three games last season after needing surgery on the middle finger of his throwing hand. As a result, he finished with a career-low 3,113 passing yards.
But Wilson’s resume is impeccable: the nine-time Pro Bowl selection won Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium.
Both the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles have been mentioned as potential suitors for Wilson, who has a no-trade clause his contract.
However based on Wilson’s most recent comments, the Giants should be prepared to ride into next season with Daniel Jones while the Eagles should assume Jalen Hurts is their No. 1 quarterback moving forward.
