They could tack on some void years and make their cap situation even worse three years from now. But they'll still have to get rid of enough guys that it will be hard for them to compete for a Super Bowl.
Rodgers' age and the Packers' current cap situation makes this the perfect time to part ways. He has to leave eventually. Might as well get a load of draft picks (including a top 10 pick) and some good, young players like Michael Ojemudia for him instead of getting nothing. Ted Thompson would make the trade.
