Why was the OL so bad? It seemed like that OL was getting strafed on every play.
And ultimately, you can go one of two ways with Mahomes. You can unleash him or you can continue to try to force him into a more subdued style. If you're going with the latter, you've gotta fix his feet. And really, that's just not something that happens in-season.
So **** it - unleash him. Just let him play. And if he spends all off-season working on that footwork so he's not pulling off throws like the one he spiked to Hardman, give it a shot again next year. Because sooner or later he's gonna need to tone some of those tendencies down as he loses a little athleticism and/or just doesn't bounce back from hits as much when he's in his 30s.
But right now he has the ability to play with his hair on fire and some of these more rote play-calls and efforts to make him more robotic are just going to fall flat. So yeah - let it ride.
