Maybe it is Mahomes or maybe it is someone else but given recent trends in NFL, someone is throwing for 6000 yards and 60 TDs sooner or later.
Tom Brady in 2002 missed the playoffs as a Patriots starting QB but he led the entire NFL in passing touchdowns with just 28 TD's. Nowadays, a pocket passer that throws for 28 TD's in in danger of losing his job. Brady in fact could double the 28 TD's this year and not even lead the league in touchdown passes.....
The NFL has turned into a different sport than it was in prior generations.
The restricted zones in which to hit QB's and receivers to a lesser extent have just made it much easier to pass the ball. Even rules, fans take for granted of QB's or other players being able to run and then slide to avoid being hit, were not always a part of the game.
The rule changes are have already had a profound impact. In the past, a good percentage of the best athletes played running back. Now the rule changes which influence salaries have the best athletes in many cases playing receiver, QB, defensive back, defensive end and no longer running back.
