You don't usually get bona fide superstars in the draft right away unless they're blue chip prospects drafted in the top of the first. Kind of hard to get those guys when you don't have a first round pick at all, followed up by picking 32nd overall.
When you're picking where the Chiefs have been, you often have to develop those guys. Thornhill was on his way to being a pro bowl safety before the injury but other than him, it has only been 2 years. This time next year, you could be adding CEH, Gay, Sneed, and others to the list.
I mean Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill weren't superstars in their first seasons. Tyreek broke out in his 2nd year and Kelce in his 3rd.
