Most of the hardcore star wars fanbase has always assumed he was alive, and it seemed like many were excited to finally get confirmation. He's returned twice in EU/Legends stuff, and now it's canon. So I don't look at it as a resurrection at all.

And it's nowhere in the same zip code as the ridiculous return of Palpatine (although that happened in EU, too). Many thought Boba Fett's death in RotJ was ****ing stupid, because he's reputed to be the most dangerous killer in the galaxy, and he gets taken out in a completely juvenile scene by a blind Han Solo with a stick. Not the way a notorious Bounty Hunter should go out. One of the things I have always personally felt kept RotJ from being quite on the same level as the first two in the OT, along with having Ewoks defeat the Empire, and not Wookies as originally planned. Because they wanted to sell toys.

So I'm thrilled that he's back.
