When I first watched the movie I thought he died and I didn't' dwell on it. Since then I've met people who are huge Boba Fett fans for some reason and they all hold out hope that he didn't because they thought it was left up in the air. And these are die hard Star Wars fanatics. So I'm ambivalent about the death because I never thought the character was all that interesting. I'm way more into the Mandalorian and if the Boba Fett character can be used to skillfully tell an interesting story with strong characters then I'm all right with it.

Agreed. If that character is who it appears to be, there's a great opportunity to make him far more interesting than the movies ever did. Could be entirely worthwhile.
