Yeah, a .22 would work just fine, but I'm not sure what the laws are about those in city limits, and in a subdivision with 3 houses looking down on my backyard. I got a pellet gun a couple years ago for the same problem, but at that time it was a squirrel that was eating my tomatoes. I couldn't aim the damn thing for crap...or it couldn't aim for crap...or both. It is a handgun with CO2 cartridges, and I could see the bb shot go, but there was no way to get consistency in where it went. Part of why I stopped shooting it though was even that was loud enough that I could hear the shot echoing through the neighborhood and with neighbors that will call 911 for out of season fireworks I really didn't want to get raided for someone saying I was shooting a handgun in town.
