Slashfilm indicates that “Justified” and “Deadwood” alum Timothy Olyphant’s role in the upcoming second season of the Disney+ “The Mandalorian” series will be that of Cobb Vanth.
Introduced in Chuck Wendig’s ‘in-canon’ “Aftermath” book series, Vanth is the self-appointed sheriff of the Tatooine-based settlement Freetown who wears a mysterious set of Mandalorian armor acquired from Jawas who scavenged the wreckage of Jabba the Hutt’s sail barge shortly after his death. This suggests that Vanth is donning the infamous green armor formerly worn by bounty hunter Boba Fett following his death in a Sarlacc Pit on Tatooine’s Dune Sea in “Return of the Jedi”. Slashfilm says their sources have confirmed Olyphant filmed scenes wearing Boba Fett’s armor.

This lends more credence to my earlier suggestion that Morrison isn't playing Boba Fett but Captain Rex.
