Just me spitballing here....
The roster is in good shape and there are not a lot of glaring needs. I think a few things will dictate the pick at #32:
1) Unexpected drop of a top 20-25 player on their board
2) I think the interior offensive line, and yes, the cornerback position is artificially inflated in this draft. The Breeland signing mitigates a bit of the need at Corner.
3) Linebacker is the biggest need. The Chiefs need a coverage backer, and a replacement for Ragland.
Depending how the board falls, the Chiefs might find themselves in a position where the elite corners are gone, Murray, Queen, and Simmons will be long gone, and then they might be left looking at offensive skill positions or slightly reaching on interior offensive line help.
- I think if one of the top 3 LB’s are on the board, that will be the pick. Large need at the position, and the players are worthy of that draft slot.
- Names to look for if the lb’s are gone?: Epenesa, Gross-Matos, Becton, Jones as surprise sliders.
- If the Chiefs think they can get great value later in the draft at running back or wide receiver, I think that is where they will draft offense. But I also think there is an argument that can be made where the elite safeties McKinney and Delpit, could easily be the pick because of their versatility.
