As far as local stations, why go to all the hassle with an outdoor antenna? When Dish and one of our local channels were feuding, I just bought one of these. We're about 45 miles from the nearest tower, but it works fine, plus when we have a storm and Dish is knocked out, we can still get local weather. I've got one of those types of antennas on my TV in my basement. It seems to work pretty well.
