Passing plays with intermediate or deep routes that take time to develop, the fact that our offense doesn't even pretend to want to run the ball, and having one of the worst offensive lines in recent memory, all make it almost impossible for Mahomes to get into any sort of rhythm whatsoever.
When he plays well, it's a series of just really great plays by Mahomes and the receivers, and not because the offense is running smoothly. Last year the offense kept the defense on their heels, because every part of the offense was clicking at the same time. Now, the offense only succeeds when Mahomes or a receiver make a great play.
