We’ve improved in 2 of the 3. The yards per rush allowed is still very concerning as it keeps Mahomes off the field.

Yards/rush isn't going to move much even if our defense holds the next 3-4 teams below their averages, simply because 5 out 6 weeks we allowed significantly greater than our opponents' averages. Except the Ravens, but their average was 205/yards per game, so holding them to 200 doesn't help much.
But if they can consistently hold say 5 of the next 6 teams significantly below their average, that number should come down.
Here's the thing though: in the last two games our defense has actually gotten some stops, and significantly more stops per game than in the previous 6 games. And they did that by being pretty effective stopping the run.
