Jenkins was a boom/bust, gambler of a CB at his apex. He was a poor man's Peters - would pick a ball off then get roasted 2 drives later.
Now he's simply a worse version of that same style of player. Yes, he's going to make some plays - but in the biggest games of our season, you don't really have to squint to see him turning in one of those "Dunta Robinson vs. the Colts" kind of performances.
He gives up a lot of plays; takes a bunch of Ls in coverage. I think the Chiefs need a guy who's going to go out there and be reliable more than they need a splashy, boom/bust addition, especially at the cost of $5 million in next season's rollover. I'll trade a W on a rep for 3 neutral plays every time if it saves 2 Ls in the process.
Many of us have been complaining about this defenses lack of cohesion and predictably solid players for the better part of 2-3 seasons. What they need are guys that just do what they're supposed to do so the other 10 players on the field can concentrate on doing their jobs. Inserting someone like Jenkins, who's a blown coverage waiting to happen on any given play, will only interfere with that, IMO.
