Everything Pat has said so far indicates he's in it to win championships. He doesn't appear to be interested in being the highest paid player. I think he will be, but I won't be surprised if he doesn't sign a $45 million/year contract either.
In fact, I won't be surprised if he takes a bit of a hometown discount. Though I don't know what that would look like. Maybe $36 million? Whatever. Mahomes loves KC, loves being a Chief, loves his teammates, loves Andy, and has only one goal: to win a Super Bowl as a Kansas City Chief. He'll do what's best for the team, not his wallet.
