Here’s an interesting stat for Mahomes. If nothing else, he’s coming up with points at the end of halves on a very consistent basis. I looked at each game in which he was playing during the last 2 minutes of a half and tallied the number of times he led a scoring drive. He’s had 7 opportunities to score points in the last two minutes and has been successful 5 times. That’s a success rate of 71%.
That tells me he can play when pressure is on and he needs to make plays the most. Being a clutch QB is a valuable trait to have. We shall see how that continues in regular season this year, but he led scoring drives in both halves he played against Denver, including the comeback game winner.
