It's not so much the bubble and the money, as he wanted to make things he would be proud to show his kids. He tried to thread the needle of his comedy skills and family-friendly fare.
I mean, his Nutty Professor and Dreamworks voice stuff is pretty solid, and his character in Bowfinger is fantastic, Life, Mr. Church, Dreamgirls, . . voice work in The PJs. He still has quality stuff out there.

I seem to recall what you're saying about him wanting to do more kid friendly fare, and thats totallly understandable
Life and Bowfinger were hilarious, but those are all pretty old at this point
Its only my opinion, but I do feel like something has changed his personality to the point that he might never be funny again
My prescription for him, is move back to his old neighborhood in New Jersey for a year, then team up with Arsenio for another comedy
