New charges filed on Joplin teacher
The Newton County prosecutor today filed three new felony counts against North Middle School teacher Amanda Schweitzer, charging her with sexual contact with a 13-year-old boy in a campground south of Joplin.
The 37-year-old teacher was charged March 31 in Jasper County Circuit Court with first-degree statutory rape of the same boy. That offense is alleged to have taken place at her residence on West 29th Street in Joplin.
The charges filed today in Newton County Circuit Court are child kidnapping, first-degree statutory rape and first-degree statutory sodomy.
A probable-cause affidavit states that she picked the boy up at his residence on March 20 without parental permission and drove him to the Water's Edge Campground on Old Highway 71. She allegedly had sexual intercourse with the boy at the campground as well as performed oral sex on him. |
