Obviously that's why that rule exists, so guys aren't chucking it into the end zone. Instead, you place the ball back at the spot of the fumble. In the case of Carr, I think it would probably be the one yard line. If it's the six yard line and the ball gets knocked around and out of the end zone, it goes back to the six.
