The valves allow for more material (crap) to sit on the bottom of the pan when drainingas effectivly you have reduces a 7/16" hole to a 1/4".
I am not a fan for that reason but "IF" I were to use one it would be a Stahlbus unit. or if space allows the Dragon system.
I would used heat shrink tubing or a hose clamp for the hose. Snap it in the drain and forget it about it ever having a problem.

In a modern day engine where debris is not as much of an issue, It may not be as important but,,, I would still like to pull the plug and stick a magnet in the pan which is something I think these systems defeat.

I thought drainplugs had magnets on the end. Mine do.

Why are you wanting to swap the plug? Did you round it off?
