many people feel that mahomes' ceiling is higher than Alex's ... is that reasonable? Sure...
Many people feel Alex can win a suberbowl this season....so he should be the starter...Is that reasonable? Sure.
only time will tell who is 'correct' here....In my mind here is how I view this:
MOST people, I would say 90% of all of us..agree that:
Alex Smith should be the starter right now...because with him we have some degree (
let's call it x%) higher chance to go farther in the playoffs / superbowl.
also I think most people agree that:
Pat Mahomes, while not ready right now....has a higher ceiling and the potential to be a great QB...the QBOTF
so , as far as 'big picture' we are all in agreement....., well if not all, i think the VAST majority of us.
So, then the key disagreement comes from the critical question: At what point do we start Mahomes?
I would say since we already established that no one reasonable is saying to start mahomes now, we actually already agree on this question too. In my mind we go back and look at the X%.
As soon as that x% goes to zero (or into the negative obviously) or close to zero, you have to start Mahomes. It really is that simple, and I truly think thats how most people look at it.
