There's a town here near where I live called Sugartown. And people there grow a shit ton of watermelons, and every summer they sell them on the side of the roads here. They call them Sugartown watermelons, and they charge over double what the stores charge. I know it's all bullshit marketing, and that that calling them Sugartown melons is playing mind games on me, making me think they're any sweeter than the ones in the grocery store. But I'll be damned if I'm not stopping once a week to buy one out of the back of a pick up truck on the side of the highway. We usually alternate between red and yellow. They're ****ing delicious.

Interesting. When I looked it up, I read they are from Africa originally.
I find that the sweetness and flavor of watermelon does vary based on how it is grown. I just finished one that was nearly flavorless. Yet the one I had near Memorial Day was sweeter and delicious.
