The bottom line is as soon as Peyton retired Elway had his worst offseason. That's not a coincidence. The only reason this offseason looks better is because that
first round QB. The problem is, nobody is considering how bad this offseason could be if they miss, which statistically speaking, is the most likely outcome. If that happens, Elway has a lot of shit to clean up after himself in the next few years.
