There was actually.
Look at all the old timers who have finally begun posting again because he's not here to ruin every single thread with his negativity and woe.
It's a Chiefs board. When you've got one guy who's posting 100 times a day and pissing all over the franchise no matter what they do whether it's good or bad and doing it in every single thread, it becomes tedious, tiresome and not a lot of fun for anyone.
And it was absolutely horrific this past year even as the team righted itself and was giving it's fans a reason for optimism and enjoyment. Openly wishing harm on players, celebrating injuries, etc., just to see/hope the team would lose so his prognostications of doom and despair would ring true? Not cool.
I understand that there is a segment of fans here that think that the Chiefs owe them a Super Bowl and it isn't a successful season unless a playoff run is underway. However, each team has a 3.125% chance of winning the Super Bowl each year. That's it. Nobody in their right mind would bet those odds.
But this new regime, in a very short amount of time, has righted a ship that was rapidly on it's way to the bottom of the sea with everyone on board. 2-14, murder/suicide, setting NFL historical marks for ineptitude, etc. Just a scant three seasons ago, the Chiefs were, quite literally, the worst team in the entire NFL. However, since that time, we've seen three winning seasons and two playoff appearances (and should have seen a third if it wasn't for an untimely fumble in the Arizona game - one little play). The roster has been re-worked and there is just cause for optimism and hope. People were getting excited again about the team, justifiably.
But there was one small cadre of negativists led by a certain individual who continued to piss down the back of the team, it's front office, coaches and every other aspect of it no matter what was transpiring on the field as well as the fans who begun to see light at the end of the tunnel that had been dark and gloomy with no end in sight.
The schtick with Cassel, Pioli, Herm, etc. was justified. When the narrative doesn't change even when everything else is being transformed for the better, it's the person, not the situation. He obviously couldn't be anything other than the eternal pessimist regardless of what was actually happening on the field. It was who he became, what he was after doing it day in and day out over the course of his many years here on Chiefs Planet. It was also tiresome to everyone here who did see the possibility of change.
And I like C.E. But he became less and less entertaining in terms of his unique board contributions and more and more about a singular mission of espousing his mantra of negativity. It was bordering on a pathological mania.
I hope he genuflects during his sabbatical and remembers why he became a fan of the team in the first place. That he comes back as a more well rounded contributor versus the malignant harbinger of doom that he had become. But until that time, I think that he and the entire board needed a break.
