I believe Brock was in a category of his own as far as draw is concerned. I think he could come back tomorrow and do over a million buys (which is huge numbers for the UFC). He's a heavyweight, which are huge draws to begin with. He also looked like a ****ing beast. You really felt as if you were watching monsters collide when he fought. Lastly, the WWE crossover was really big. I know lots of WWE fans bought every Brock PPV just because they wanted to see how he did. I saw YouTube videos of WWE fans with absolutely no MMA knowledge, hanging on every second of his fights. Screaming the silliest shit. "Just put him in a sleeper hold, Brock!" It was a huge money draw for Dana, but it was almost embarrassing for the UFC.
I kinda look at the Rousey situation the same way. The promos and hype her and her opponents up as the best in the world, and then you tune in and it's subpar talent. Great for Dana's wallet, fun for casual fans, but does nothing to lend credibility to the sport.
