Saw this on a KU site...

Big 12's Biggest Mistakes:

1. Not having a strong commissioner in the 2000's. A strong commission could have put a plan together to satisfy all parties.

2. Not calling Texas on their bluff to leave the conference. The commissioner at that time was too afraid of Texas and didn't understand that Texas was not going to leave the Big 12. Allowing Texas to hold the rest of the conference hostage destabilized the conference and led to the departure of Missouri, Nebraska, A&M, and Colorado.

3. After the departure of the schools listed above the Big 12 should have invited Louisville and one other school to the conference to preserve a minimum of 12 conference schools. I realize it may have reduced revenue in the short term but long term it would be better for long term conference value.

Going forward the Big 12 either needs to merge with the Southeastern Conference or invite 2 more schools to the conference. We need to think about the future.
