I'VE DONE IT

Any major objections to this idea:

Cincinnati, Notre Dame, South Florida (or Central Florida) and BYU to the Big 12.

Cincinnati, ND, USF/UCF, KU, KSU, ISU re-form the Big XII North. Baylor, OU, OSU, Texas, TCU, TTU re-form the Big XII South.

Assuming ACC, SEC, PAC12, Mountain West and B1G see no further changes (outside of Notre Dame's defectionto B12), this accounts for 68 teams that are currently NCAA Division I football programs.

There are 46 teams that are not accounted for.

The MAC will remain the same with 12 teams in two divisions (you don't want to know the amount of gymnastics I did to move and remove these teams only for them to fall into their current alignment. I'm dumb)

Army, Appalachian State, University of Connecticut, Eastern Carolina, Marshall, Navy, UNC-Charlotte, Temple and Western Kentucky form the American Eastern Football Conference.

Univ. of Alabama-Birmingham, UCF/USF, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Georgia Southern, Georgia State and Troy form the Coastal Division of the Sun USA Conference. Arkansas State, UL-Lafayette, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, North Texas and Tulsa form the Central Division of the Sun USA Conference.

Houston, UL-Monroe, Rice, Southern Alabama, Southern Methodist, Southern Mississippi, Tulane, Texas State, UT-El Paso and UT-San Antonio form the Gulf States Football Conference.

In the American Eastern and Gulf States Conferences, outstanding agreements concerning non-football sports contests in other conferences will be preserved unless there is a desire for member schools to align with their new football leagues. Further, after the completion of nine AEFC and GSFC games in November, each team will play a crossover game against an opponent from the opposite 10-team conference the week after Thanksgiving. These match-ups will be determined by intra-conference standings. IE, AEFC #1 will play GSFC #1. The designation for home and away will rotate year-to-year, with an eye toward matching the conference champions in a neutral site game if logistics allow for it.

This re-alignment will mean that the ACC, B1G, Big XII, SEC, PAC 12, MAC and Sun USA conferences will all have a conference championship game at the completion of the regular season. If there is a call to expand the National Championship Playoff the eight teams, these seven conference title games and the exhibition between the American Eastern and Gulf States champions will go a long way with settling who will fill these slots without adding an extra week of travel for athletes and fans.
