It's not my money so I can spend it freely, but it makes zero sense to me from a business perspective if you had a $94 million roster and were on the cusp of contending to just say "We can't add anymore." You might as well have gone in with a $40 million roster at that point and keep the change or, if you gave a shit, invested the profit in future payrolls.
I hope it's a smokescreen, but you're either all-in or you're a loser. When you straddle the fence you just get repeatedly struck in the balls.
