Minnesota has no incentive to do that deal. It sets a bad precedent for the organization. They are better off just letting him walk than trading him for Tristan Thompson and a few late firsts.
Besides, Love can't go to Cleveland as a free agent next year. The Cavs would have to completely gut their roster sans LeBron and Irving to do so.
Love has some leverage, but he doesn't hold all the cards. Minnesota can and should extract some value.
