Neither team has an advantage. But you have said Minnesota "holds all the cards." They don't.
In fact, everything you're saying is counterintuitive to that.
The wolves are "almost assuredly going to trade him." Exactly. Everyone knows they HAVE TO TRADE HIM. WHICH LOWERS THEIR NEGOTIATING POWER.
That negotiating power plummets if they trade him at the deadline.
