What? Why would they hold him for one season? They're almost assuredly going to trade him. And since they don't have to trade him until next January or February, they can afford to wait until they get a good offer.
Hell, holding him for a season puts even more cards in Minnesota's hand. Cleveland wants Love now. LeBron wants Love now.
So I'm not quite sure how you think Cleveland has any advantage right now.
