Final Mock (4 rounds)

1. Josh Conerly, OT, Oregon - after several years of trying to find a long term answer at LT, the Chiefs finally have a legitimate late round 1 T fall into their lap that happens to check all their boxes. If Moore is a huge success, could also allow you to move one or the other to RT..

2. Jordan Burch, EDGE, Oregon - the Chiefs double dip on some Oregon talent, but this time on the defensive side of the ball. Burch fits the Spags profile perfectly, and his upside is fairly high.

3. Omarr Norman-Lott, DT, Tennessee - some people like DJ are very low on him for whatever reason, while others are very high, so it's hard to get a read on where he's going to go. I think he's way too good of a pass rusher for the Chiefs to pass on here.

3. Tory Horton, WR, Colorado St. - probably the most underrated WR in the class, Horton is the perfect X for this team, and would complement Worthy, Rice, Hollywood, and Kelce perfectly.

4. Damien Martinez, RB, Miami - the theme with these picks is lining up need, fit, and value. I think Martinez is a borderline top 100 player, but many think this is where he will go. I can see it due to a loaded RB class.

I'd literally JIMP. Conerly and Martinez are my guys and Hortons a nice cherry on top.

Huh?

It's Crow that doesn't like him. I've been high man on Lott for most of the draft season. I've been circling around him in the 2nd for the better part of a month.

I've just seen some other guys falling in that area that I also really like and so I end up passing on him as often as I don't.

You have me mixed up with Crow, I think. I really like ONL and specifically referenced him in (maybe) the Guys I Like thread.

Here -- from the Hot Take thread in mid-March.

That kind of interior pressure would just create chaos because there are so few teams that have it that there are few teams we'd face built to stop it.

It's one of those things were simply being unique can create an advantage for you.

He's one of those guys I'm looking at when I say that I don't really care much about prospect age at a certain point. I mean folks will look at Norman-Lott and Jordan Phillips and say "Well Jordan Phillips is only 20, ONL is 23 -- Phillips is clearly a higher upside prospect..."

I just can't get there. I don't see a 6'2", 315 lb guy in Phillips having a growth spurt. Or getting faster. Now getting out of Maryland's program into an NFL program might be a big deal for him but that would be a big deal for 24 year old Darius Alexander going from Toledo to an NFL program as well. At that point it's not age, it's situation.

I think people might look past ONL a bit because he's a little older and has never put up eye-popping numbers. But he's had 2 really good years at TN and just creates problems on the interior. I think he's a perfect get if he's there for us in the 2nd.

I'm talking about Daniel Jeremiah LMAO

Apparently, he's not even in his top 150. And he's not the only one, so it's just really hard to know where this guys going to go. I'd 100% take him with the Titans pick though.

kccrow 04-23-2025 01:30 PM

I like ONL, I just didn't think he belonged in the conversation at 63 and 66. I think he's a guy you talk about at 95. I wouldn't mind this draft at all though. I think it hits the major spots we all want to see addressed. I have different preferences on the players I'd put there. Probably release my best guess at what the Chiefs will do later today. I usually try to put one out outside of what I want. It might not look too dissimilar.

ROFL This made my day

I get it though because most people don't refer to him as "DJ" on CP LMAO

That's fair -- you've been pretty consistent on that. I like him in the late 2nd/early 3rd where he might be an overdraft but I don't see him making it to the back of 3.

You like him okay in 3 but would very much prefer him in 4.

And I think you'll be closer to right. DTs just slide. Seems like they slide every year.

But then you have guys like Dre'Mont Jones who profile similarly and who go in that mid-3rd (which is where I'd take ONL in an ideal world; right around 75).

Will he be Dre'Mont or someone like Moro Ojomo (who had his supporters as early as the 3rd a couple years back) who fell to the 7th?

To me I see the get-off that puts him far closer to Jones than Ojomo.

I do like Tory Horton long term, but I feel like we really need to make an investment earlier for a receiving option.

I think it’s our biggest need right now relative to draft resources.

This is essentially me saying that I absolutely think that Moore will be fine at LT and that Kingsley or Wanya will be a viable option at RT in 2026. I think the odds of both of those things are pretty good.

Then you have Nourzad, West and/or Hanson as contenders for the RG spot (again, I think you should be good with one of 'em there).

I know everyone wants an OL in those first 2 days but I just like the players better at different positions.

As for that middle tier DE, Gilotte is the guy I find myself moving towards as a combination of fit and upside. I actually like him more then Kennard for this squad.

I'd be happy with this for sure.

I actually had Tuten and Etienne available with that pick at 133 but I kinda started looking into Giddens a couple weeks back and man...I really do like him a lot.

I'm pretty sure he's become my favorite in that T2 running back group and if I'm sitting there at 133 with him and Sampson on the board...I'd probably take him over Sampson. I think he's going to be able to handle more volume than Sampson.

I struggled a bit at the top of 7. Buchanan is essentially poverty Bolton. Which makes him a rich man's Cochran. So if I can get him and knock Cochran's ass off the roster to save $3 million in cap space, that's worth the pick. I don't see any real ability to develop into a starter, but it was slim pickin' at that point.

Lachey is just a tools grab.

West....might be something. I actually hesitated to take him because I'd be a little surprised if he fell that far. He has really nice swing IOL potential (not unlike Nourzad last season) and that typically gets guys taken in the 6th or so. I certainly wouldn't expect him to be there at the back of 7.

DJ's left nut 04-25-2025 07:42 PM

I've taken the lead, Staylor!

(Sadly, Porter just came off the board)
