Need a Computer for my Dad

Howdy,

Dad needs an upgrade. He mainly just surfs the web, watches youtube videos, etc. He doesn't need a big gaming rig or anything. He COULD use a better set of speakers for his music and potentially a keyboard that has the ability to light up and is slightly bigger.

Where's the best place to get this kinda stuff nowadays at a decent price.

Last time I bought a computer it was from cyberpowerpc but those are mostly gaming from what I can see. I need to upgrade my own gaming one soon.

Also, side note. I have 2 of those NES classic systems. Anyone ever add games to those?

If all he needs is web, email, and YouTube is there any reason he can't use a ChromeBook? They're dirt cheap and really easy to use.

Keys are probably too small and it's nice to have the big monitor. Could look into it. He's 74 for reference.

The keyboard on my Asus Chromebook is the same size as my Lenovo PC and my Apple Magic Keyboard. I don't find it that small, especially for a 15-inch class. And you can always get him a standalone monitor.

All I'm saying is consider it. Chromebooks are easy to use and maintain and the cost savings would be substantial. For example, my Asus is considered on the high side of "mid tier" for a Chromebook, almost "top tier". I paid $300 for it. My daughters HP, which has almost identical features but runs Windows was $650.

Something like this would probably work well. 17" laptop. RAM's a bit low, but really shouldn't make much difference if just browsing.

These speakers kick a lot of ass.

I did something like this for my sister.

I set her up with a mini PC (GMKtec) and a 22" monitor from Amazon. 8gb ram 256 ssd. It cost about $200 total. She just used her old keyboard and mouse.

I've had pretty good luck with the BeeLink mini PC's for users with basic computing needs, and they aren't much more for 16GB of RAM.

I bought a Chromebook in January and bought a large returned Monitor for a reduced price... I have a wireless keyboard and mouse combo which works perfectly for me
