Mocking after FA

1. JT Tuilamaou DE Ohio State 6’4” 265- multi year productive starter. Can replace Omenihu, who is still a FA. I think he could start over Danna and make a great duo with George.

2. Deone Walker DT Kentucky 6’6” 330- big physical kid that can push the pocket. Has great size and length to bat ball’s down too. Could really develop under Joe Cullen and Chris Jones guidance.

3. Charles Grant OT William & Mary 6’5” 311- with More signed for only two years this kid could be a great developmental LT. Has 34 1/2” arm length. Very athletic for his size. And can use the next year out two developing his play strength and techniques.

3. Savion Jones DT LSU 6’5” 290- played DE at LSU but showed some real good quickness as a DT at the senior bowl. With Tillery signed Savion can really develop as a DT and learn from Chris Jones. And get good weight up to the 305 range.

4. Danny Stutsman LB Oklahoma 6’3” 235- a tackling machine at Oklahoma. Has great length and size. Ran a 4.52 forty at the combine. Can back up Tranquill and eventually replace him. Him and Bolton would make a good combo.

7. Hayden Connor OG Texas 6’6” 320- multi year starter. Adds quality depth inside. Can challenge Kingsley for the LG spot.

7. Zah Frazier CB UTSA 6’3” 195- long lanky corner. Ran a 4.36 forty at the combine. Has a good nose for the ball. Good depth and a prospect to develop.

7. Jacorey Merritt RB Arizona 5’11” 208- fast athletic running back. Was the MVP of the shrine bowl. Only played 1 game his senior year after transferring from New Mexico. Has great speed. Expected to run in the 4.4s. Has good contact balance and vision. I thought of going RB earlier but with the signing of Mitchell and Hunt I just don’t know if it is a big priority.

Clear emphasis on the trenches here.

I get it, but I selfishly want an offensive weapon or two earlier.

I look at Tyquan Thornton and Mitchell as those added weapons to the offense. Plus getting Rice back and having Brown for a whole season.

I agree, but good work Palangi!

Love me some mocks!

I don't look at Thornton as anything at all.

Mitchell >Perine

And that's about all.

Well I have him as the 5th WR so I’m not expecting a lot either. But he is new and adds experience and SPEED.

I do think having Brown and Rice all year will be big for us as well. I’m also hoping for a step up with Wiley at TE.

I just think we really need to beef up our trenches this draft. And it’sa good draft to do this.

I actually applaud not taking a RB early as that's something I truly think might be a reality with Veach. When he drafted Pacheco he said starters would come from the 7th round. That's an absolute with the talent in this draft.

At least you still got some meat. It could be the last crusty piece of dried out broccoli you're getting instead.

It's a good draft for the trenches, I agree.

Lots of other meat in this draft.

We can still address the trenches. Doesn't mean we have to ignore another position of need that happens to be well stocked in this draft. IMO waiting until the 7th for an RB again would be absurd...but unfortunately par for our course

Merritt could be a real sleeper. Very productive at New Mexico. Then sat out last year because of transfer issues. Shined in the shrine bowl as the MVP. Good size and really good speed. Breaks tackles and can be a threat in pass game

I don’t think it is being ignored. With the resigning of Hunt and the signing of Mitchell I just don’t think they will make it a priority.

If Pacheco gets traded during the draft I could see them going earlier.

Pacheco
Hunt
Mitchell
Steele
Ingram
(Merritt)

I also believe has Merritt been able to play this last year he would’ve been a late third or fourth round pick

Yeah, Merritt was exceptional at New Mexico. I was really looking forward to seeing him play at Arizona this year.

I recall having him in an early mock for the 2024 draft only to be disappointed he was going back for another year and transferring.

He's the type of player that really makes me wish we had 5th and 6th round picks this year, because I don't necessarily see him making it to the 7th and the 4th may be a tad early.
