Super Bowl LIX: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

The Good: There wasn't much but a couple things stood out.
1. Worthy played a great game in a shitty loss. Made a great catch in garbage time, excelled when he had the ball and looks to be a true keeper for years to come. Only downside is he has little escape power after the catch.
2. Our tackling was excellent. For a defense that always seemed to be on the field, I can't remember one missed tackle. Bolton had a few for minus yards, Reed had at least one and the rest of the team made tackles.
3. Run defense stopped Saquan like no other. Wharton had a very good game. That was impressive but.....

The Bad: There was plenty
1. Run defense let Jalen Hurts kill them. Once again, we have a chance to get the Eagles off the field or stop them but Hurts had massive running lanes and a huge total of yards, 72 and that was more than Barkley.
2. Drops. Once again Travis drops an early pass and Dhop and Kelce dropped others although the passes were suspect. It added to the failures.
3. Our punter. Dude sucks and kicks bombs into the end zone when we need a big hang time and kicks a weak liner when we need to flip field position. Not our biggest concern but another piece of fail to add to the pile.

The Ugly: There was a HUGE amount of ugly.
1. Andy Reid got out coached and gave up the run too soon. They made NO ADJUSTMENTS at Halftime and Mahomes takes 2 sacks to start 3rd qtr to kill all hope.
2. Mahomes was abysmal. Patrick's decision making ability under pressure is really getting worse and so is his vision. Granted he was getting killed but he was a ****ing train wreck. 11.7 passer rating in this Super Bowl and overall, his stats in Super Bowls is subpar.
He is now 3-2 and while 5 Super Bowls before 30 is most ever, he needs to play 4 good quarters, especially the start of the games.
3. Brett Veach. I have been a huge fan because of Mahomes draft but that goodwill is gone. Dude has too many misses in the draft and how the **** do you think this line was good enough? You saw the result in Tampa Bay Super Bowl, you watched problems all year and you go into the Super Bowl against the best front 4 in football. This is his last chance to fix this or rlse it's time to go.

There was much more but no need to rub salt in the wound.

A total embarrassing performance on every level. Really lowered the status of Mahomes and the Chiefs legacy ....

The offensive line got out played.. That’s the reason we lost… Brett and Patrick will be fine.. Sometimes you lose SBs… JFC , we made 3 in a row..

disappointed and did not sleep last night.

The new season starts today.

Saw the comparison of Green Bay's starting OL in SBI vs the Eagles OL last night.
6'3" and 245lbs to 6'5" and 338lbs.
It's hard to stop the tush-push when the DL is outweighed by 30-50lbs each. They did a good job of stopping Barkley but let Hurts do anything he wanted, either running or having time to pass.

Many of us have been waiting for the other shoe to drop on the thuney/ caliendo move and it did. Unfortunately all the shoes in the closet fell off a shelf as well. I don’t specifically remember creed getting beat but Taylor and Trey were less than impressive.

I’ve been saying it for a few years but I’ll beat the drum again. Philly prioritizes both lines and damn they’re always competing because of it. We’ve got a franchise qb the first 4 picks should have OL, DL or Wr.

There's no excuse to be down 34-0 in a game of this magnitude. We looked like TCU versus Georgia. You expect Reid/Mahomes to put up a fight or make adjustments. They just kept doing the same thing.

They should be professionally embarrassed by this showing. It doesn't take away from their accomplishments in prior years but it should leave a stain. That was an all time whooping. The other blowouts in SB history didn't involve dynasties as the losing team.

We completely went away from the quick game that had been working and when we did try it Mahomes was off. Reid should have said **** it we gotta line up and run to settle these horses down but didn't try it until two quarters too late.

Yup. There's no reason for anyone to take it easy on a team in our position. That was the sort of pants-shitting you don't ever forget. I'm certain it will be fuel and a source of shame for Pat moving forward.

Yeah, the offensive stats they kept showing were just abysmal... you can have a bad offensive half with 100 yards of offense and they had what, as many yards as the Eagles had points, and one or two first downs.

CFB was exactly what I thought of, too... teams that get completely dominated in the trenches.

Deservedly so. I'm heartbroken that my Hero played as piss poor as he did.

Unfortunately he'll wear that game like a scarlet letter forever. By multiple metrics it was one of the worst QB performances in history.

kcpasco 02-10-2025 10:15 AM

At least the Tampa Superbowl Pat had the Superman pass. This one was just head scratching ugly.

Womble 02-10-2025 10:17 AM

Punt God has been pretty terrible at midfield punts this season with them ending up in the endzone too often. Not concerned with the other aspects of his punting..he's got a cannon for a leg and usually the ball drops to somewhere near the sideline.

crayzkirk 02-10-2025 10:22 AM

Well said, not a lot of positives on the offensive side. I get way too emotional over losses and need to distance myself from the Chiefs for a while. The rollercoaster ride of a season was exciting however ending with a thud ruined it for me.

Let's go Royals. It's time for baseball.
